Springfield, IL…Surrounded by family and friends, Mike Murphy (R-Springfield) was sworn into office today as the new State Representative for the 99th House District.
“I am tremendously honored by the trust families in this district have placed in me by allowing me to serve them in the House, and I will work every day to make them proud,” Rep. Murphy said
Rep, Murphy is a Springfield native and has lived most of his life in Sangamon County. He has a strong history of community service, serving on both the school board and village board while living in Divernon. He recently served for six years on the Sangamon County Citizens Efficiency Commission and served the community as a youth sports coach and president of the Divernon Sports Boosters. Rep. Murphy recently sold his restaurant, Charlie Parker’s Diner, and is prepared to bring his business background, his strong commitment to the farming community and his understanding of the importance of education to the General Assembly.
“Our challenges are certainly serious, but they’re not insurmountable. I’m ready to work with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle and the new governor on creating and supporting good jobs, and making central Illinois a place where our children and grandchildren will want to stay and raise their own families,” Rep. Murphy said.
Representative Murphy will continue to serve district residents from the 99th State Representative district office located on the first floor of the Stratton Office Building near the Capitol. He can be reached at 217-782-0044, or by visiting his website at repmmurphy.com.
